Sim Racing Team (SRT) are pleased to present the team for 2018. With 5 drivers covering both the European GT Series and the Oceania GT Series, there is a wealth of talent on display.
Bruce Duncan joins the team in the #99 Ferrari 488 GT3 and brings his traditional Irn Bru sponsorship. Returning to his usual seat in the #69 is multiple V8 Supercars Champion Brett Clarke. Rounding out the 3 car entry is team owner Steve O’Connor in the #96 F488 GT3.
Bert Van J continues with the team in the #46 F488 GT3, now with Dewalt sponsorship. Gavin Cocks brings the Dewalt and HRS sponsorship across in the #5 F488. The #5 and the #46 will be joined for the full season by the #96 and #99 of O’Connor and Duncan as well.
Team Owner Steve O’Connor:
I’m delighted to keep the core of the team with both Bert and Brett on board. Consistency in drivers has been at the root of our many championships over the years, so its fantastic that we can keep this going. I am also unbelievably excited to welcome Gavin Cocks to the team. He has been one of the strongest competitors we have ever faced, he has cost us many points and wins over the years through his speed and overall skill. To finally have Gavin on the team rather than having to race him as a competitor really strengthens the team overall.

And adding my own personal ‘nemesis’ to the team in the shape of the #99 of Bruce Duncan, I think it gives us a real platform for success this season. Bruce knows what it takes to build a winning team and despite our best efforts to show otherwise over the years, we actually work really well together. All you have to do is look at the European V8 Supercars season when I drove with Bruce, we weren’t too far away from some sustained success. With the undoubted speed of Brett, our European season should be a title challenge as a minimum.
Finally, I’d like to give a big thanks to outgoing SRT stalwart, Dan Stevens. I’ll be honest, I’m annoyed that we haven’t gotten a title in SRT colours for Dan. He has been so close so many times, yet we have just missed out everytime. I’d still like to put that right in the future, its still on my list!
